But first check that the motor diameter will fit the transmission!

When planning the adapter plate, we discovered that the the forklift's main 12.5 inch diameter traction motor that we had originally planned to use in the car WAS TOO BIG to use with this transmission!

With the motor shaft aligned with the transmission's input shaft, the motor diameter (green arrow) was actually slightly larger than the outside diameter of the bell housing.

It was big enough that it would have interfered with the axle where it connects to the differential (yellow arrow).

So we ended up using one of the forklift's smaller diameter hydraulic pump motors instead.
